Hwaaa baru sempet update lagi >_< benar-benar minggu yang melelahkan, banyak tugas *walaupun tugasnya tidak pernah kukerjakan wkwk*
Belakangan ini aku mulai aneh, seperti aku menjadi orang yang semakin keras. Aku menjadi orang yang radikal dan mengambil resiko. Tidak seperti diriku yang dulu. Mungkin ada hubungannya dengan sebuah buku yang baru kubaca beberapa hari yang lalu, yaitu Botchan karya Natsume Souseki.

Botchan adalah novel yang sangat populer di Jepang. Novel ini dikatakan sebagai novel favorit dari Soseki-sensei dan menduduki posisi penting dalam sastra Jepang hingga saat ini, terbukti dengan disisipkannya A MODERN CLASSIC di atas judulnya. Novel yang bercerita mengenai pemberontakan seorang guru dari Tokyo terhadap sistem sekolah desa tempatnya mengajar ini diceritakan dengan gaya humor ringan dan spontan. Gejolak kehidupan tempo dulu di Jepang yang bisa dibilang mirip masa kini diceritakan secara gamblang dari mata Botchan yang selalu terus terang dan blak-blakan. Di dalam novel ini kita akan menemukan banyak sekali tipe manusia yang mungkin kita kira hanya ada pada masa kini. Botchan, guru muda dari Tokyo, berjuang menjalani kehidupannya di losmen dan mengajar murid-murid sekolah menengah. Di sinilah kita bisa melihat perjuangannya 'meluruskan' semua hal yang salah dengan sikap kerasnya.
Alan Turney, penerjemah Botchan untuk edisi berbahasa Inggris, mengatakan bahwa Botchan mungkin terlalu lempeng (tipis, katanya) untuk plot orang barat. Di beberapa bagian kita mungkin akan terkejut karena suatu babak terasa terlalu cepat 'meloncat' ke babak lain yang seharusnya diperjelas batas-batasnya, seperti pada bagian akhir yang bagi saya terasa agak menggantung. Kejadian per kejadian di bagian akhir ketika Botchan telah meninggalkan tempatnya mengajar terasa kurang meninggalkan kesan karena kurang jelasnya batas kejadian satu dengan kejadian lainnya.
Sosok Botchan dikatakan mirip dengan sosok sang pengarang, Natsume Soseki, berikut setting tempat Botchan bekerja juga pernah menjadi tempat Soseki-sensei mengajar. Sikap Botchan yang tidak tunduk pada seseorang atau suatu norma mungkin juga diwarisi dari sang pengarang. Dan seperti yang dikatakan Botchan, kejujuran adalah yang paling utama dan tidak semua orang di sekitar kita bisa menerima kejujuran. Novel ini cukup bagus bagi pembaca yang ingin mengetahui selera bacaan orang Jepang, sekaligus mencari sosok seseorang yang berpendirian teguh dalam menghadapi kehidupan keras berikut orang-orang yang melakukan penyimpangan di sekitarnya.

Seperti Botchan, guru matematika yang mengatakan "ILMU YANG TIDAK BERGUNA SEPERTI MATEMATIKA."
Well, sebenarnya aku bangga. Aku menemukan prinsipku, jati diriku.
Inilah hidupku, sifatku, resikoku. Hidup ini tidak mudah, teman. Jika aku tidak menjadi orang yang radikal, aku akan hanyut menuju kehancuran dunia. Jadi jangan protes atas apa yang kupilih.
